Golden Oriole Oriolus oriolus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Extremely rare, passage migrant. May occur Between April & June.
- One male, not aged, 28th May 1910 (D. Carr).
- One, not aged, spring 1985 (pers. comm. M. Jenkins)*
A male reported by Donald Carr in the orchard of Ubley Mill House, is presumably the record referred to in (Palmer & Ballance, 1968).
Mike Jenkins told me some years ago that he had seen a Golden Oriole at Butcombe Bank. I asked him for more details and understand he didn’t submit the record to AOG, so it’s not ‘officially’ listed, but I’m including it here for posterity.
