White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla (Linnaeus, 1758)


Very rare (2016 & 2021), introduced resident & passage migrant [ex BBRC 1999].


  1. One, juvenile, 28th October 2016 (N.R. Milboourne, A.H. Davis, G. Stacey et al. Photographed.).
  2. One male, juvenile, 13th April 2021 (Radio-tracked over Blagdon Lake, unreported, and seen at Chew Valley Lake later).

The first sighting was of an unringed individual, the first definite record of this species in the Avon reporting area since 1871, when an immature male shot at Dodington Park in December.

The second record was of a wandering radio-tracked individual, G461, from the Isle of Wight introduction scheme.
